To celebrate the Island Sanctuary, Square Enix has decided to host a week long livestream of a real-life farm! With cows, chickens, goats, and more, what better way to enjoy the sounds of Island Sanctuary in the background?

For some FFXIV players, Island Sanctuary is more exciting than the new raid tier. Having a section of the game that’s nothing but slice-of-life content is appealing to many people, especially with the constant rise in popularity of laid back games such as Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, and so many more.

We’re excited to see FFXIV’s spin on that type of gameplay…but to get people excited for it, they’ve gone live as of this morning with a week-long livestream of real farm animals. When someone in the Twitch chat complained that they’d rather see gameplay, someone else suggested that “This IS the gameplay.” If that’s the case, it may be more laid back than we ever expected!

Just as well, the community has taken to naming the single rooster in the chicken enclosure “Zenos.” The memes abound.

Based on what we’ve seen so far, the Island Sanctuary isn’t intended to replace housing, but it will be a fun little farming/ranching sim in the same vein as the tiny farm players ran in World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria. Only…you know, in a much different game.

“Mogchute Farm” is hosted at Mudchute Farm; an agricultural non-profit charity farm based in the United Kingdom. In Square Enix’s post, they link to Mudchute Farm’s website for those interested in more information or giving to the charity to forward ideals of better care for the environment and cruelty-free treatment of livestock animals.

You can check out the Mogchute Farm livestream on the Official FFXIV Twitch Channel.
