Among the many exciting things announced today with the patch 10.1.5 update preview, some may have missed a detail tucked into the progress roadmap – the Kalimdor Grand Prix!

It doesn’t sound like much when you put it like that, but the actual name of the the thing is “Dragonriding Event: Kalimdor Grand Prix”! In our interview with Associate Game Director Morgan Day, Blizzard had mentioned that Dragonriding will very likely be sticking around after Dragonflight, and this seems one of the way they’ll test those waters out.

While we don’t have any specific details on what the Grand Prix will entail, it is likely that all or a majority of Kalimdor will be available, considering the speeds involved in Dragonriding. It might just be an instanced portion of it, however, but in any case it can’t really be seen as anything but a prelude to enabling Dragonriding in at least Kalmdor and the Eastern Kingdoms, if not everywhere outside of the Dragon Isles!
