Learn about the new updates for the Blue Mage in Final Fantasy 14 Patch 6.45, including the level cap increase, new spells, and Best in Slot gear.

Final Fantasy 14 fans who enjoy playing the Blue Mage have a reason to celebrate. The latest patch, 6.45, has increased the level cap of this unique job to 80, and added new spells to learn from enemy creatures.

The Blue Mage is a special class that allows players to harness the power of their foes by learning their spells. Unlike the usual classes, the Blue Mage can perform any of the three roles (DPS, Healer, or Tank) depending on the spells they equip. However, this also means that the Blue Mage is not affected by level sync in duties and has limitations in the content it can join.

Despite these restrictions, the Blue Mage is a very fun and powerful class to play, especially for farming content fast for events or various objectives. It has the strongest burst damage in the game if the proper spell combination is found.

With the new level cap of 80 and around a dozen new spells to learn, the Blue Mage can now unleash even more havoc on its enemies. The new Phantasmal Job gear for the Blue Mage also offers more options for hybrid sets, as it has items with both SpS (spell speed) and Crit (critical hit rate). The best option seems to be Crit/SpS to fit the Moon Flute Opener and have some heavy damage output, but Healer and Tank Blue Mages may prefer to go for SpS/Det (determination). However, all three roles are playable with both sets: either Crit/SpS or SpS/Det.
