We’ve already had hints at what exactly patch 10.2 is going to be, but with today’s 10.1.7 build we got another big one. There’s a pretty conspicuous name for a quest background image in the files, and it points exactly where everything else was pointing as well. Spoilers ahead, obviously

“QuestBackgroundDragonflightEmeraldDream.BLP” is the big file discovery, but it’s not a guaranteed confirmation that 10.2 is going to be the Emerald Dream specifically, especially since the file is from the 10.1.7 PTR! So why would this 10.1.7 file not be 10.1.7 related? Well, we’ve already had the official announcement of Fury Incarnate with no mention of a new zone, and .7 patches are relatively smaller in scale. We also know that 10.2 is getting a new zone. With the Emerald Dream being such a big deal for so long, it’s very hard to believe it would be added in such a patch. That is, unless it’s a minor thing, but quest backgrounds are only added for zones and possibly major storylines. And so, the most likely option is that we are actually, finally, after it was supposed to be included in Vanilla WoW-ingly, going to be getting a full Emerald Dream zone.

With other revelations like a certain tree getting grown again, the Emerald Dream seems like the perfect fit for Season 3!

Whether details like this are Blizzard purposefully leaving bread crumb hints is unclear, but it’s certainly getting us excited!
